Models to paint! Hurrah!
Commission work for Leofa here, and a long-awaited return to his Craftworld Dyns-tain force. Haven't done these in a long time, and great to not only be back to 40K but also Eldar, who I've always had a crush on.
As with any commission, I'll try and get over the hump stuff first. In this case, it's a Webway Gate, which isn't the humpiest of humps. Lovely piece, but it's a) massive and b)going to be white, which made it daunting.
Turned out well. I played about with the new Pylar Glacier contrast to get the glow. Not a bad colour, but very dilute, it needed a couple of coats. Mixed with Apothecary White, it made for a decent lighting effect wash too.
Gods, Eldar have a lot of gems, I'd forgotten that. At least these were nice big ones. A nice rainbow of them, to help make the largely monochrome paint job seem like I'd put some effort in. Green and white might make you think these were Biel-Tan, but there's no barbed thorn work here, just clean surfaces and completely original colour schemes.
Two sets of Webway Gates worth, in fact - this is a much smaller set, 3D printed ones. Slightly harder to do these, because I couldn't just casually drybrush them, it would bring out their grain. Not too big a problem on these, they are nice quality, and make for a good alternative set (as well as being much easier to carry to matches).
More to come, of course. Who's that striding through the portals?
